The Charm of the Path of the Gods toward Agerola and Amalfi Coast Trekking

From Praiano, you can set off to discover the wonders of the Amalfi Coast and beyond: Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, Capri, Pompeii, Paestum, Sorrento. For trekking lovers, the Path of the Gods is an unmissable experience, but even the lesser-known trails offer spectacular views and lead through ancient stairways, lush nature, and glimpses of the sea.

Praiano is the ideal starting point for those seeking an authentic vacation, blending relaxation and adventure. As you stroll through narrow alleys, terraced gardens, 16th-century churches, and ancient shrines, you’ll breathe in the true soul of the village—rooted in tradition, silence, and endless views.

And to enjoy the sea, nothing beats the beaches of La Praia and La Gavitella—perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and boat trips along the coast. Each day can end with a sunset walk along the steps of Via Costantinopoli, surrounded by the scents and sounds of this unique corner of the Amalfi Coast.

Fairytale trekking on the Path of the Gods from Agerola to Praiano

Among the most spectacular hiking trails on the Amalfi Coast, the Path of the Gods is without a doubt the most iconic. It connects Agerola to Positano, offering extraordinary views of the coastline, suspended between sky and sea.

From Praiano, the trail is easily accessible directly from Via Costantinopoli, just a few steps from La Barbera B&B. Take the staircase on Via Colle La Serra, which leads from the upper part of town to the junction with the main Path of the Gods trail at an elevation of 578 meters.

From there, you can choose to continue east toward Agerola or west toward Positano. The trail is well-marked and scenic, best enjoyed during the cooler hours of the day and with appropriate clothing. An unforgettable experience for those who love walking amidst nature and endless landscapes.

The rock caves of Santa Barbara and Agerola

Another scenic and accessible trail connects Vettica Maggiore to Bomerano in Agerola, covering about 5 km with an elevation gain of 650 meters. From La Barbera B&B, the path winds through the village, climbing between cultivated terraces and white houses that gradually give way to the wild, fragrant Mediterranean scrub.

The well-marked trail continues along a clear mule track to the Praia stream, where it meets the path descending from Santa Barbara, passing the ruins of an ancient monastery. From there, it continues through forests of ash and oak trees, along an uphill stretch that winds between rocky cliffs and zigzagging paths.

Trail no. 80 emerges near a rural house: cross a small bridge and, after about 300 meters, you’ll arrive at Piazza Paolo Capasso, in the heart of Bomerano. A fascinating and not overly demanding hike, perfect for immersing yourself in nature and discovering hidden corners of the Amalfi Coast.

Cala della Gavitella and the Altare Fountain

From La Barbera B&B, follow the panoramic steps of Via Costantinopoli to reach the beautiful Piazza San Gennaro. From there, take Via Masa, where the stairways begin that lead down to the enchanting Cala della Gavitella—one of the most captivating beaches on the Amalfi Coast.

Overlooking Positano and bathed in sunlight until late, Gavitella is sheltered by a promontory crowned by the Torre del Grado. Near the cove lies a small natural wonder: the Altare Fountain, a pool nestled within a seaside grotto.

During the summer, the beach is equipped with traditional restaurants where you can savor local flavors between swims and postcard-perfect views.

La Praia and the Torre a Mare

At the mouth of the Vallone di Praia, nestled between towering rocky cliffs, lies Marina di Praia—a picturesque beach dominated by an ancient fishing village. Here stands the Church of the Annunziata, the focal point of the March 25th celebrations, when a procession reaches the sea illuminated by traditional fishing lamps.

The beach is home to seaside restaurants, diving centers, and boat rentals—perfect for excursions to the caves of Suppraiano, the Grotta dell’Africana, the famous seaside nightclub, and the island of Capri.

From Marina di Praia, a scenic trail carved into the rock winds along the coast, leading to the promontory where the Torre a Mare stands—a cylindrical 16th-century tower built to defend the coast from seaborne raids.
